Mafhoom began as an idea in a competition. In the fifth edition of The Innovation Diwan, we were named among the seven best teams, in a field of more than 2,000 ideas.

What The Innovation Diwan isما هو ديوان الابتكار

The Innovation Diwan is a national program from the Misk Foundation, run through its Misk for Community track. It gives young people the chance to turn an idea into a working solution to a real community challenge, with mentoring, training camps and prototype building along the way. The first edition ran in 2021.

This edition was run in partnership with the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, so the challenges came from real needs around the two holy mosques and the people who visit them. Ideas competed across five themes: environment, education, economic development, community participation and health.

Where Mafhoom came inأين كانت مفهوم

Our idea started from a problem pilgrims face every season: the language barrier. We built a team of young specialists around it, and reaching the final seven told us the problem was real and the approach made sense. We kept working with the Haramain Authority and Misk to turn the idea into a practical service, and in 2025 we established Mafhoom in Jeddah.

The partnership did not end on stage either. At the closing ceremony, the Haramain Authority announced a youth innovation committee, formed with Misk from participants in the program, to keep the work going and help ideas reach real use.

It is where our story began, and we are grateful to Misk and the Haramain Authority for the platform. The story has since moved on to first place at CODE.
